Direcció General de Turisme (General Tourist Board)
With the aim of encouraging the highest possible standards and thereby avoiding unfair and unofficial competition, a campaign has been introduced to eradicate accommodation that does not have official recognition. Steps have been taken in the Costa Brava region so that only those accommodations that have the official seal of approval can be advertised or promoted.
We are also involved in the preparation of the Official Business Guide of Tourist Lettings in Catalonia.
We work in collaboration with other groups to carry out supervisory projects in order to guarantee the safety of our guests.

These categories are split into two sub sections: luxury accommodation and basic accommodation.

Quality Standards Code Costa Brava – Girona
ATA is also the organisation that promotes quality standard codes in apartment blocks as well as letting agencies. ATA’s aim is to implement quality standard codes to the highest degree possible amongst its members. This is for two reasons:
• To obtain Q for Quality Certificate approval for tourist accommodation apartments. This is the highest seal of quality in the Spanish tourist sector.
• To offer a wider range of choice which is advantageous to business.
ATA has decided to focus on this need to improve and exceed quality standards of our members using the criteria set by the “Instituto para la Calidad Turística Española” (ICTE). This quality standards code for apartments complements ATA’s efforts to achieve the maximum amount of official recognition for its members as well as bringing the quality of the accommodation available in the area up to standard.
Quality standard codes for tourist apartments are subdivided into two groups:
• One for tourist apartments in one block
• The other for letting agencies
In 1999 ATA requested ICTE to introduce a specific regulation governing letting agents since current rules and regulations could not be applied to them due to the nature of their services.
As a result of this request the Department of Quality Standards Codes Costa Brava Girona has held meetings during the last three years with business representatives from letting agencies to create a quality standards plan which was presented for approval in 2002 and passed by an ITCE Legislative Committee.
Junta Arbitral de Consum de Catalunya (Catalan Consumer Arbitration Joint Council)
